For thousands of years meditation has been valued in the East for its spiritual and therapeutic benefits. Today lots of people from around the world are onto the many benefits it has to offer - improved health, happiness, and wellbeing! This course brings together various forms of this practice in a way that's simple to learn, and enjoyable too.

Meditation is an ancient practice still used today, to experience moments of deep inner silence, calm, tranquility and peace.

It has been taught for more than 5000 years and its benefits are now widely recognized throughout modern society - hundreds of scientific studies conducted around the world have demonstrated that meditation improves physical, psychological and social aspects of life.

Today, it is practiced for a wide variety of reasons - from spirituality, to relaxation from a busy schedule, to cultivate mental discipline, cope with ill health and emotional turmoil, overcome stress and tension, increase vitality and energy, and to improve inner happiness and well being.

While traditionally meditation is known as a technique to free the mind from all thoughts, it now encompasses a wide spectrum of simple, yet very powerful practices.

On this course, you'll be taken step-by-step through those techniques that will allow you to explore meditation in your daily life, and experience its many wonderful benefits.

Over the 8 weeks you will learn how to:
- Deeply relax the body
- Focus your attention in order to still the mind and allow a greater clarity to emerge
- Become aware of your inner world of thoughts, feelings and emotions
- Visualize and use the concentrated mind to imagine, explore and remember
- Concentrate upon sound and music, free from the distraction of thought
- Become alert to the world around you, bringing awareness to the peace of the present moment

       It was a great introduction to meditation, which included a lecture and a guided relaxation practice (which was VERY relaxing indeed, I felt very peaceful afterwards). I am looking forward to the weeks to come where we explore other meditation techniques further.
